Step 2. Know your why

Your motivation or “why” plays a huge role in achieving your health and nutrition goals. It will:

  • Motivate you to make a start
  • Provide a consistency boost – even when distractions come along and
  • Help you to follow through on your dreams and aspirations when challenges arise.

A strong “why” underpinning your actions — whether it’s for your family, your kids, to live longer, be disease and pain free, look and feel more attractive or simply to have more energy when you train or compete — gives purpose and “spark” to your everyday choices and actions.

How do you know if I have my “why”?

When you think about your “why” you should experience an intense feeling – you will want to burst, jump for joy or scream! It’ll make you want to put in the extra effort, drive you out of bed early and sharpen the mind to become laser-focused.

So, dig deep, be honest and write it down or take a photo of it and place it somewhere you can remind yourself daily of why you do what you do.
